Mufti Badruddin Ahmad Siddiqui Quadri Razvi
[1348-1412 A.H/ 1929-1992 C.E]
Badr al Ulama, Badr al Millah al Islamiya, Badr al Awliya Shaykh al Fiqh Mufti Badruddin Ahmad Siddiqui Quadri Razvi Nuri bin Shaykh Ashiq Ali Siddiqui [d 1396 A.H/1976 C.E] was born in a small town in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India in 1348 A.H/1929 C.E.
Islamic Studies
He started studying elementary Arabic, Persian and Urdu books at a local Madrasa and then at Madrasa Anwar al Ulum, Azamgarh district where he studied under Shaykh Muhammad Khalil Ashrafi Kichochavi. In Shawwal of 1367 A.H/1948 C.E he joined Jamiya al Ashrafiya, Mubarakpur, Azamgarh where he studied for 4 years.
In 1371 A.H /1952 C.E he graduated from Jamiya Ashrafiya and was awarded the Sanad [Certificate of Distinction] at a convocation ceremony attended by leading Ahl us Sunnah Scholars.
Among his teacher at Jamiya Dar al Ulum Ashrafiya were:
1 Hafiz al Millah Abdul Aziz Muhaddith Ashrafi Mubarakpuri, Founder of Jamiya al Ashrafiya Mubarakpur.
2 Shaykh al Ulama Hafiz Qari Abdur Rauf Quadri Balyavi,
3 Shaykh Allama Ghulam Jilani Quadri Razvi A'zami.
4 Rayis al Mudarrisin Abdul Mustafa Naqshbandi A'zami.
5 Shaykh al Qura' Muhammad Yahya Quadri.
Teaching Career
On the Advice of Hafiz al Millah Abdul Aziz Quadri Ashrafi Muhaddith Mubarakpuri, he started teaching at Jamiya al Ashrafiya in 1371 A.H to 1372 A.H / 1953 C.E.
Hafiz al Millah then sent him on a religious mission to Balya [U.P], where he started teaching at a Madrasa. Here, Badr al Ulama taught for 2 1/2 years after which he resigned.
In 1375 A.H/1956 C.E Shoayb al Awliya Muhammad Yar Ali Chishti Latifi Quadri invited Badr al Ulama to take the responsibility of Sadr al Mudarrissin and Mufti of Dar al Ulum Fayz ur Rasul, Baraun Sharif which Badr al Ulama accepted this generous offer. Shoayb al Awliya was the founder of Dar al Ulum Fayz al Rasul.
Badr al Ulama brought new life to the Dar al Ulum through his sincere hard work and teaching expertise. He served as the Chief Mufti of Dar al Ulum Fayz al Rasul for 19 years till 1394 A.H/ 1975 C.E. Shoayb al Awliya used to say that "Badruddin Sahib is the soul of Fayz al Rasul". The same year he was invited by the managing committee of Madrasa Ghawthiya Ahl us Sunnah Fayz al Ulum, Badhiya [Basti, U.P], for the post Sadr Mudarris of Madrasa which he accepted on a minimum salary of Rs 300 per month until 1412A.H / 1992 C.E!
Baiyah and Khilafah
Badr al Ulama while studying at Dar al Ulum Ashrafiya, Mubarakpur gave Baiyah to Mufti al A'zam Imam Mustafa Raza Khan Quadri Barkati Bareilvi in the Quadriya Barkatiya tariqa.
Badr al Ulama had Khilafa in the Quadriya Barkatiya tariqa from Imam al Manazirin Mufti Muhammad Hashmat Ali Khan Quadri Razvi Lukhnawi and also from Mufti al A'zam.
Badr al Uluma's Khulafa in the Quadriya Barkatiya tariqa are Shaykh Mufti Kawsar Husayn Quadri Razvi and Shaykh Abdus Samad Quadri Razvi Aurangabadi Bihari.
Among his close friends were
(i) Mashahid al Millah Mufti Mashahid Raza Khan Quadri Razvi Hashmati bin Imam al Manazirin Mufti Hashmat Ali Khan Quadri Razvi Lukhnowi
(ii) Faqih al Millah Mufti Jalaluddin Ahmad Quadri Razvi Amjadi.
(iii) Taj ush Shariah Mufti Akhtar Raza Khan Quadri Barkati Azhari Bareilvi.
(iv) Shaykh Ashiq al Rahman Quadri Habibi Allahabadi.
(v) Shaykh al Adab Munsha Tabish Qusuri Quadri Chishti Siyalvi Ashrafi.
Students

There are no less than 50 great scholars who studied under Badr al Ulama. The majority of his students served and taught at Dar al Ulum Fayz al Rasul, Baraun or founded Madrasas in various parts of India.

16. Sawanih Ala' Hazrat: One of the most notable and famous work of his which still serves as a standard and concise Urdu biography of Imam al Huda Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Muhaddith Bareilvi. Badr al Ulama wrote this Biography at a time when no biographies of Ala' Hazrat were in book markets. The ‘Hayat e Ala' Hazrat’ by Malik al Ulama Sayyid Zafaruddin Bihari was out of print. This Biography is one of the best biographies of Imam al Akbar. It was praised by Mufti al A'zam Mustafa Raza Khan Quadri Bareilvi. It was written in 1383 A.H/ 1963 C.E, since then many editions of it were published from the subcontinent.
17. Maktubat Badr al Millat:
Demise
Badr al Ulama passed away when he visited Bombay on the invitation of its citizens in Ramadan al Mubarak of 1412 A.H/ 1992 C.E. He left this mundane world on the 7th of Ramadan after breaking the fast, sitting on a prayer mat.
His death sent Shock waves through the Scholarly circles of Ahl us Sunnah in India, Scholars from all over India reached Mumbai as quickly as possible, those who came to pay homage were Taj ush Shariah Mufti Akhtar Raza Khan Quadri Azhari Bareilvi, Muhaddith al Kabir Mufti Ziya ul Mustafa Quadri Amjadi A’zami and others. Badr ul Uluma's body was flown from Mumbai to Delhi, then to Lukhnow. At Lukhnow Airport it took full 2 hours for his body to pass through the crowd of people who came to pay tribute to this Wali of Allah. From Lukhnow his body was taken to the Madrasa Ghawthiya Razviya, Badhiya, Basti where he was teaching for the past some years. The Funeral procession passed through more than 7 cities where people greeted him with prayers.
His funeral prayer was led by his younger brother Shaykh al Hadith Mufti Nayimuddin Quadri Razvi while some 12,000 people attended the funeral prayer in his village.
